5.2 Image Alignment

It is believed that using a tripod can avoid any mis-alignment of the photos. This is often not the

case because of:

• Wind

• Shutter slap (even using mirror lockup)

• Shaky ground

This can be checked using a 200mm telephoto lens. It is surprising how much the exposures

can be out of alignment. The good news is that the Photomatix Pro alignment functions can

often properly align them. Photomatix supports two different alignment methods, based on

different algorithms. If one doesn’t work, the other should be tried.
